Job summary

Veolia in North America is hiring a Utility Construction Equipment Operator to install, maintain and repair water utility facilities in the Bayonne, NJ area. You will operate backhoes and forklifts, perform routine maintenance and keep records of work and materials used.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of backhoe experience, utility locating skills, and valid NJ driver’s license. CPR/First Aid, Competent Person, and equipment training are also required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in backhoe excavation operations.
• Utility locating experience.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Competent Person certification required.
• Backhoe and Forklift training required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
• Perform Competent Person in Charge duties on excavations as needed.
• Operate backhoe, excavator, and forklift as required.
• Maintain and service excavation equipment and record keeping.
• Install/replace water mains, meters, and hydrants with appurtenances.
• Repair and maintain water transmission and distribution facilities.
• Record daily work, time, and materials used.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in on-call rotation.
• Occasionally perform foreperson duties.
