Job summary

Pasco County Utilities invites you to join as a Utility Worker I/Trainee. This role performs a variety of manual labor tasks supporting water, wastewater, and reclaimed water system appurtenances, with a pathway to advancement through multiple utility roles as certifications and performance are met.

Candidates will learn to inspect, repair, install, and maintain systems, operate pumps, and assist in field work.

Qualifications

Graduation from High School or an acceptable equivalency diploma.
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

Assist in performing cross-connection inspections, repairing and testing backflow preventers, and supporting backflow inspectors.
Operate, maintain, and repair all phases of water and reclaimed systems.
Maintain water and reclaimed water facilities including custodial services and minor maintenance of plant processing equipment.
Assist in installing, repairing, replacing water and reclaimed water distribution lines and restoring sites after work.
Perform field maintenance duties including installing, evaluating and repairing cross-connection controls, master meter assemblies, backflow devices, and tapping lines.
Assist in maintaining retention ponds, treatment plants and other utility assets.
Provide information and respond to public information requests.
