Job summary

Pasco County Utilities is seeking a Utility Worker I/Trainee – Backflow to join our team in Florida. You will assist with inspections, repairs, testing, and maintenance of backflow preventers and water systems, and support the installation and relocation of meters and lines.

A clear path to advancement exists through certifications and performance. The role requires physical work, the ability to lift up to 80 lbs, and a valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods of repairing water and reclaimed water distribution systems.
• Knowledge of tools, fittings, and cleaning out lines.
• Ability to drive a truck.
• Ability to operate line clearing equipment and pumps.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to get along with other employees and the public.
• Graduation from High School or an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assists in cross-connection inspections and backflow device work.
• Operates and repairs water and reclaimed systems.
• Maintains water facilities and basic plant equipment.
• Installs and repairs water/reclaimed distribution lines.
• Performs field maintenance on controls, meters, pumps.
• Maintains retention ponds and treatment plants.
• Sets up de-watering sites and shoring.
• Responds to public information requests.
• Lifts up to 80 lbs regularly and works heavy objects.
• Bends, climbs, and walks as required.
• Performs other related duties as needed.
