Job summary

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a valid Florida driver’s license and relevant certifications. The position offers on-site work with potential for overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year related experience.
• Fingerprinting required as part of the background check.
• Florida driver’s license with applicable endorsements to drive county vehicles.
• Must complete water distribution operator course within 6 months.
• Must possess backflow prevention testing & assembly certification within 6 months.
• Must possess Class 3 Water Distribution Technician certification within 18 months.
• Must maintain IMSA Work Zone Safety certification and FDOT Traffic Safety in Work Area within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Operates maintenance tasks for water utilities projects including valves, pumps, pipes, and hydrants.
• Responds to after-hours emergencies when scheduled for on-call duty and assesses service calls.
• Operates various machinery and hand tools used in department projects.
• Performs general cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment and tools.
• Transports equipment and crew to work sites; monitors inventory and orders materials as needed.
