The City of Aurora is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to perform inspection of water-related construction projects. Inspectors verify that work complies with plans, specs, and city codes, ensuring safety and reliability of drinking water, sewer, and drainage systems.

Salary ranges from $27.27 to $34.09 per hour, commensurate with experience. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and may involve coordination with multiple city departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in construction inspections of water utilities preferred.
• Knowledge of construction principles applicable to utility projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of wet utilities and related systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate and monitor water construction projects.
• Collaborate with consultants and engineers to monitor work.
• Coordinate water issues with other city departments.
• Review construction plans and specifications; suggest changes as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate construction files and records.
• Identify potential issues and meet with contractors to resolve them.
• Conduct site walk-throughs with contractors and inspect work in progress.
• Perform field work including information gathering and problem identification.
• Work on special projects as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as required.
