Position Summary:

The Water Truck Driver – Paving is responsible for safely operating a water truck to support paving and sitework operations, including dust suppression, asphalt compaction, and roadbed preparation. This role plays a vital part in maintaining efficient and safe work zones. The ideal candidate will hold a valid CDL Class A license with a tanker endorsement, have previous experience in heavy civil construction, and be prepared to assist with general labor and equipment operation as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near-misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety first, in everything we do.
  • Operate a water truck to provide water for dust control, compaction, and cooling during paving operations.
  • Follow dispatch instructions and coordinate water usage with paving foremen and site supervisors.
  • Utilize the truck’s auxiliary spray system or pump as needed for targeted application.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete all required documentation.
  • Assist on the ground with paving and general labor tasks when not actively driving.
  • Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and procedures, reporting incidents, near-misses, and hazards immediately.
  • Maintain truck cleanliness inside and out, including washing, polishing, and organizing cab tools and supplies.
  • Support other tasks and job functions based on project or crew needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a water truck on construction or paving projects.
  • Valid CDL Class A license with Tanker Endorsement.
  • Clean driving record with current DOT medical card.
  • Experience working around heavy equipment and active job sites.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of truck systems and water pumps is a plus.
