City of Midland, Texas is seeking an entry level Water Treatment Plant Operator I to support the operation of a conventional drinking water treatment plant and distribution system. You will learn to monitor processes, perform tests, and maintain equipment under supervision.

This training role requires certification within one year and offers hands-on learning in SCADA operations, chemical dosing, and safety procedures, with full-time hours and emergency availability.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Class D Water Operator within one year of employment.
• Entry level training position with learning scope in plant operations and instrumentation.
• Willingness to work varying hours and respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operates the water treatment plant and related subsystems and instrumentation.
• Monitors treatment processes and adjusts chemical dosing to maintain water quality.
• Performs laboratory tests (chlorine residual, pH, turbidity, hardness, alkalinity) and records results.
• Reads gauges/meters and interprets data to keep processes and distribution running smoothly.
• Maintains operational logs and participates in preventive maintenance on equipment.
