Job summary

Woodard & Curran in Defiance, MO is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the daily operation of the water treatment plant (well, pumps, motors) under the supervision of the Project Manager.

You will participate in preventive and corrective maintenance, monitor processes, learn new equipment for the capital project, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements while supporting plant reliability and high-quality drinking water.

Qualifications

• Missouri Water treatment plant operator’s license preferred.
• Valid Missouri driver’s license.
• Working knowledge of water treatment plant operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions in water treatment work.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with software applications.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor plant operations to ensure adherence to State and Federal regulations.
• Collect and analyze samples from water treatment and TSS samples.
• Respond to emergencies as required or per emergency operations plan.
• Maintain and keep current State operator’s license.
• Maintain stock of chemicals used.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety standards.
• Perform minor and major repair and maintenance to plant and equipment.
• Wear a respirator when required.
• Operate and maintain chemical feed equipment; calculate feed rates.
• Maintain and monitor clear well and treatment basins levels.
• Collect water samples for lab analysis.
• Complete and update daily log sheets and laboratory test results; enter data into Hach WIMS.
• Inspect water treatment equipment for safe operation.
• Receive and record chemical deliveries; monitor chemical storage.
• Backwash filters and set proper flow rate.
• Respond to chemical emergencies.
