Job summary

City of Austin's Austin Water Department seeks an entry-level Plant Worker to support operations at water treatment facilities. You will perform grounds and facility maintenance, operate basic equipment, and assist licensed operators with process control tasks under supervision.

The role requires reading gauges, basic math, and adherence to safety practices. A high school diploma is required. Shift schedules include four 10-hour days at multiple plant locations in Austin.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Knowledge of maintenance practices and safety procedures.
• Ability to read simple drawings and operate basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and tools as directed.
• Assists with mechanical maintenance tasks and plant operations.
• Reads gauges, meters, and control panels; maintains records in CMMS.
