City of Hamilton, Ohio is seeking a Relief Operator for the Water Production Division to support routine and short-notice vacancies. The role involves operating water treatment plants, monitoring chemical dosing, and maintaining equipment during assigned shifts.

Training to meet Ohio EPA Class I standards is provided and adherence to safety policies is mandatory. The position offers on-site work with a salary contingent on the operating license held, plus holiday pay and shift incentives.

Qualifications

  • Must pass Class I Water Supply Operator exam within six months of hire.
  • High school diploma or GED verification required for finalists.
  • Preferred: Class I/II/III Water Plant Operator Certificate (OH EPA).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and adjust water pumps and chemical feed equipment.
  • Monitor operation and record readings; prepare routine reports.
  • Supervise and coordinate shift/work assignments to ensure full performance and safety.
  • Lift and handle chemical bags up to 60 pounds daily.
  • Operate and monitor plant controls, pumps, and chemical feeders.
  • Inspect and maintain plant equipment and housekeeping areas.
  • Monitor water chemistry and adjust chemicals to ensure quality water.
  • Assist maintenance crew and support on-call overtime coverage as needed.
