Job summary

The City of Lake City is seeking a skilled water treatment operator to aid in operating and maintaining the treatment facility under the Chief Operator. You will calibrate equipment, manage chemical dosing, monitor plant systems, and maintain logs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3 years of plant operation experience, and a Florida Water Operators Certification (or in progress), plus a valid Florida driver’s license. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 3 years of plant operation experience.
• State of Florida Water Operators Certification (Class A/B/C) or in process.
• Valid Florida driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
• Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating water treatment facilities and collecting/analyzing samples.
• Calibrate and perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Manage chemical treatment of drinking water and monitor processes.
• Monitor plant systems, read charts and correct malfunctions.
• Maintain logs and data records.
• Supervise trainees and train personnel.
• Answer questions from the public.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
