Job summary

The City of Winston-Salem is seeking an intermediate skilled trades worker to assist mechanics in maintaining water treatment operations, under the supervision of the Senior Utilities Plant Operator.

You will tour the plant, read meters, perform routine laboratory tests, monitor SCADA systems, and assist in adjusting chemical dosages as directed. Overtime may be required; a valid driver's license is needed on hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and minimal experience.
• Ability to pass a validated job assessment including math.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assists senior plant operator with routine operation and maintenance tasks.
• Makes plant tours to inspect engines, pumps, tanks.
• Records readings, performs lab tests.
• Reports defects to maintenance personnel.
• Substitutes for senior operator when needed.
• Monitors water plant operations and SCADA systems.
• Adjusts chemical dosages under supervision.
