Job summary

City of Jackson seeks a qualified Assistant Water Treatment Plant Supervisor to oversee daily operations, maintenance, and compliance at the water treatment facility. The role reports to the Director of Public Works and coordinates with planning, engineering, and support services to ensure reliable water production.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, reviewing reports for EGLE, managing contracts, and leading emergency response and safety teams.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid State of Michigan F-2 license and a valid Michigan driver's license.
• Two years of college in the science field and one year of supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with filtration and softening processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review Monthly Operating Report before submission to EGLE.
• Create bid documents and manage contracts for bulk chemicals.
• Oversee operations, maintenance, and repair of water production and storage facilities.
• Lead emergency response and safety teams.
• Provide on-call support outside normal hours.
• Assist in capital investments and maintenance projects.
