The role also serves as a back-up Sewage Plant Operator and maintains compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

The position requires EPA and Illinois EPA licenses, several years of water-treatment experience, and the ability to work within a structured state agency.

Qualifications

  • Requires completion of four (4) years of high school or equivalent.
  • Requires three (3) years of experience in water treatment plant operation.
  • Requires EPA Class “B” Water Supply Operator Certificate.
  • Requires Illinois EPA Class 3 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, inspects, and maintains wells, pumps, motors, and lab equipment.
  • Performs daily testing of water levels, softeners, and iron filter.
  • Prepares weekly samples and analyzes chemicals, minerals, and bacteria for health agencies.
  • Maintains daily records on potable water and salt usage; back-up Sewage Plant Operator duties.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations and department policies.
  • Performs additional duties within the scope of the job as needed.
