Job summary

The Village of Palm Springs seeks an operator to assist in the operation and care of a variety of water treatment plant operations during an assigned shift. This is specialized work in the operation of a water treatment plant.

Responsibilities include taking samples for laboratory analysis, recording meter readings, adding chemicals to raw water, and operating pumps. A high school diploma is required; a Class C Water Control Operator License must be obtained within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Supplemental courses in chemistry or related subjects may be acceptable.
• Within 12 months of employment, obtain a Class C Water Control Operator License.

Responsibilities

• Operate water plant equipment to meet quality standards and state requirements.
• Take samples for laboratory analysis and record meter readings.
• Add sodium hypochlorite and other chemicals to raw water; operate pumps.
• Follow established plant procedures and report deviations.
