Job summary

The City of Charlotte's Water Department is seeking a skilled team leader to supervise mechanical staff and oversee maintenance for transmission, distribution, and water treatment systems. The role focuses on valve repair, maintenance, rehab, and coordinating with plant personnel and contractors.

You will manage work orders in CMMS, participate in safety programs, support budget development, and mentor staff while ensuring quality, compliance, and timely repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; seven years of related experience in wastewater equipment maintenance, with at least one year in supervisory roles.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work/industry experience.
• Requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily maintenance activities and coordinates with Engineering, Field Operations, and Water Treatment staff.
• Directs maintenance staff by generating, scheduling, and tracking work orders in the CMMS.
• Assists staff with maintenance tasks including prioritizing work and troubleshooting repairs.
• Provides oversight of staff, including assigning work, evaluating performance, and mentoring.
• Ensures adequate materials by preparing scopes of work, RFPs, and purchase orders.
