Job summary

City of Seattle’s Seattle Public Utilities seeks a Transmission Section Manager (Mgr 3) to lead the Water Transmission section, overseeing crews at Tolt, Cedar Headworks, and Cedar Pipeline. You will shape operations, budgets, staffing, fleet, field practices, and customer response for the drinking water transmission system.

The role demands a proven leader with experience managing teams, large budgets, and complex workflows in utilities.

Qualifications

• Five years of supervisory experience in water distribution/transmission or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field (or equivalent).
• Current Water Distribution Management III (WDM III) certification or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for installation, maintenance, and repair of water system infrastructure.
• Manage and supervise subordinate supervisors, with total direct and indirect supervision of 25 FTE involved in the water system.
• Oversee budget management with contract oversight and diverse funding sources.
• Provide technical guidance on maintenance and operation of the water transmission system.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders and facilitate public involvement processes for policy input.
• Represent the City on policy issues before officials and external constituencies.
• Lead cross-functional teams across departments to achieve important outcomes.
