Job summary

Oxy seeks a Water Technician to oversee safe, efficient operation and surveillance of water, oil and gas production facilities. You will ensure reliable production through disciplined operations, effective troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key duties include managing source water infrastructure, coordinating with construction, engineering and vendor personnel, and driving continuous improvement in safety, reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• 5+ years of oil & gas or industrial operations experience.
• Familiarity with production facilities, compression, or artificial lift systems.
• Experience with SCADA, PI, or other surveillance tools.
• Strong computer skills and field mobility platform experience.

Responsibilities

• Achieve source water goals and minimize freshwater usage while controlling costs.
• Safely manage and coordinate multiple parties in a 24/7 production environment.
• Maintain operations and maintenance of source water systems (water treating facilities, impounds, lines).
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and contractor teams to ensure water readiness and optimize operations.
• Plan and coordinate rig up/rig down of water transfer and treatment infrastructure; liaise with support teams for long lead items.
• Oversee contractor and equipment activities; approve time and invoices after work completion.
• Troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions within scope of responsibility.
• Perform PMs on water systems and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
