Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Water Management/Hydraulic Structural Team in Baton Rouge, Metairie, or New Orleans, LA. You will perform structural analysis, design, and construction support for flood risk reduction and resilience projects, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with multiple disciplines.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and PE or EIT with PE within 6 months.

Qualifications

• 5 or more years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or EIT with ability to obtain PE within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conducts structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work which has a well-defined scope.
• Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions and regulatory agency specifications.
• Works toward development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
• Works directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office / project staff, client and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle, and therefore should have clear and concise, oral and written communication skills.
• Will exercise their own judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
• Might support as a Design Lead, Task Manager or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, and leads with the development and management of plans, permit checklists, scopes of work and will facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects.
• Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.
• Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff.
