Job summary

The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking a Water Systems Mechanic I to maintain and repair equipment used in treatment, storage, and pumping of drinking water for Fort Worth and wholesale customers. This entry level role offers training and development opportunities to advance your career.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass drug and physical screenings.

High school diploma or GED is required.
Valid Driver’s license required.
Must pass drug screen and physical screening.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance, repair and installation on plant structures including piping, engines, blowers, pumps, valves and other water treatment and pumping equipment.
Clean chemical leaks and collect debris.
Operate hand tools, welding machine, air compressor, forklift and other equipment.
Assist in complex construction projects for large scale plant operation and follow work plans and schedules.
Maintain plant maintenance equipment and add oil or grease to components as needed.
