Job summary

The City of Fort Worth Water Department seeks a Water Systems Mechanic I to maintain and repair equipment used for treating, storing and pumping drinking water for Fort Worth and wholesale customers. This role offers training and development opportunities to advance your career if motivated and eager to learn.

Work is Monday–Friday 6:30am–3pm with some evenings/weekends. Benefits include 11 holidays, medical, dental, vision, PTO, pension and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certification
• Valid Driver’s license
• Must pass Drug Screen, and Physical screening

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, repair and installation on plant structures including piping, engines, blowers, pumps, valves and other water treatment and pumping equipment
• Cleaning chemical leaks and collect debris
• Operate hand tools, welding machine, air compressor, forklift and other equipment
• Assist in complex construction projects for large scale plant operation and follow work plans and schedules
• Maintains plant maintenance equipment. Adds oil or grease to components as needed
