Job summary

US Army Corps of Engineers in Omaha, NE seeks a Permanent IT Specialist to advance database management, software development, and data processing for regional water control systems. You will provide IT guidance, perform analyses, and develop Web products used by district offices within the MRBWM Division.

The role covers evaluating new technologies, implementing improvements, and ensuring compliance with DoD and USACE requirements.

Qualifications

  • GS-07: 1 year specialized experience including programming and Web Development.
  • Graduate education options: 1 full year of grad study in CS/engineering or 24 semester hours with applicable development
  • GS-09: 1 year specialized experience including programming in Python, Java, React, JavaScript or Web Development.
  • Education: Master’s degree or 2 graduate years in CS/engineering/etc. or 24 semester hours with development of apps/networks.
  • GS-11: 1 year specialized experience including programming, system analyses, software design and troubleshooting.
  • Education: Ph.D. or 3 graduate years in CS/engineering or related fields.
  • GS-12: 1 year specialized experience including programming, database management and feasibility studies.
  • GS-13: 1 year specialized experience including programming, database management, feasibility studies, and water control data systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for database management development, documentation, and maintenance of software, data communications, networking system administration, and Web products for Omaha/Kansas City district offices and MRBWM Division.
  • Provides IT guidance to user representatives to formulate requirements for major modifications to Missouri River regional WCDS.
  • Performs computer system analyses, software design, and development to automate data collection and processing of water control data.
  • Evaluates automation and new technology benefits; recommends equipment, software, and procedures to implement.
  • Resolves advanced issues in system software, system administration/architecture, communications, network infrastructure, security, data transmission, and graphics formats.
  • Ensures systems meet DoD/USACE regulations and performance, security requirements, and resource constraints.
