Job summary

The US Army Corps of Engineers in Portland, OR seeks an IT Specialist (Applications and Software) to design, develop, and maintain software for automated water data collection and dissemination across the region. You will review processes, explore solutions, and provide design recommendations while supporting databases and modernized software used by water control staff.

Specialized experience in computer communications, programming, and system design for real-time hydrological data is required,

Qualifications

  • Four IT competencies required: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication and problem solving.
  • Experience with designing and configuring computer communications, programming, network architecture, and real-time hydrological data systems is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software to enable automated data collection, communication, and dissemination of water control data.
  • Explore alternatives and provide design and configuration recommendations for computer communications and system design.
  • Provide backup support for Region Oracle DB and systems administration.
  • Develop, deploy, implement, and maintain modernized software used by water control staff.
  • Review WCDS processes including real-time hydrologic data collection and data exchange with other agencies.
  • Coordinate procedures for receiving, processing, displaying, and disseminating current and forecasted hydrologic and meteorological data.
