Job summary

The Wellesley Water Department is offering an internship for an engineering student to gain hands-on municipal water operations experience under the supervision of the Water Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Water Analyst.

The role includes surveying, GIS/GPS data collection, data analysis, reporting, and collaboration with department staff on water quality, distribution, and system maintenance; outdoor fieldwork is required and field safety practices will be taught.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college pursuing Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Basic GIS/GPS knowledge preferred.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surveying related to water system infrastructure.
• Utilize GIS/GPS for system mapping and data collection.
• Support data collection and analysis to improve water system efficiency.
• Participate in civil engineering activities and review infrastructure components.
• Work with staff on projects related to water quality, distribution, and maintenance.
• Conduct fieldwork including site inspections and system assessments.
• Prepare reports, maps, and presentations summarizing findings.
• Perform other duties to support department operations.
