Job summary

Nucor is seeking a dedicated general laborer for our Bushnell, FL facility. You will work outdoors in a fast-paced environment, supporting maintenance, monitoring equipment, and ensuring safety standards are met.

Responsibilities include following procedures, maintaining records, assisting with water testing, and performing routine upkeep while coordinating with team members. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required based on production needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of general labor in heavy manufacturing environments.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 12 hours per day.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays in an outdoor industrial setting.
• Must adapt to frequent priority changes and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and complete maintenance records.
• Monitor pumps, piping, and equipment; adjust and troubleshoot as needed.
• Collect samples for water testing and monitor chemical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine building/yard upkeep.
• Communicate effectively via radio with teammates for production coordination.
• Cross-train in other positions as needed by the manager.

What You'll Do

• Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
• Responsible for completing and maintaining maintenance records.
• Monitors pumps, piping, filter equipment, and centrifuge.
• Monitors chemical systems.
• Collects samples for water testing.
• Adjust metering pumps as needed.
• Switch chemical totes as required.
• Monitor water flow by clearing small jams in water lines using water/air compressor
• Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating and measuring wear.
• Operate small equipment of various sizes including forklifts, skid steers, etc. on an as needed basis.
• Provide technical support by (duties include, but are not limited to) monitoring various production equipment, making adjustments to feed/discharge rates of various production equipment, troubleshooting issues with production equipment.
• Conducts frequent and periodic inspections of plant to detect malfunctions, initiates corrective actions, and reporting it to the supervisor.
• Perform daily scheduled preventative and emergency maintenance on production equipment including greasing, lubricating, cleaning, and measuring.
• Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
• Perform interior and exterior building maintenance, housekeeping chores and ground maintenance, including but not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
• Effectively communicate over radio with teammates for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures. Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What You'll Need

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop outdoor environment while providing excellent customer service.
• Minimum of 1-year previous general labor in heavy manufacturing environments and warehouses preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Ability to operate a forklift is a plus.
• Flexible to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays in an industrial/warehouse environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work in extreme heat and be exposed to weather.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
• Candidates within 50 miles of location preferred.
