Job summary

The Village of Rantoul is hiring a Street & System Operator to maintain and repair the water distribution system and drainage within the right-of-way. This is a full-time hourly role requiring operation and maintenance of streets-related vehicles and equipment.

The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid IL CDL, and be willing to work evenings, holidays, and weekends. Benefits include health, retirement, vision, dental, life insurance, and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid IL CDL Vehicle Operator’s License.
• Working knowledge of water system repair procedures.
• Willing to be on our on-call rotation.
• Respond to emergency calls as needed.
• Willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends as needed.
• Must lift at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Repair water distribution components and drainage systems.
• Operate and maintain street equipment and vehicles.
• Install hydrants, valves, service connections and tests.
• Repair sidewalks, streets and alleys; prepare surfaces for repair.
• Respond to work orders and emergencies; communicate with supervisor.
