Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light in Lansing, MI is seeking an Engineering Intern for the Water & Steam Distribution Department for May 17, 2027 to August 13, 2027. This full-time summer internship offers hands-on learning under the guidance of experienced engineers.

You will assist with design, project management, operation and maintenance of distribution systems, prepare documents, and use SAP and office software while following safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program and have junior or senior standing during the summer of 2027.
• Must be enrolled in fall 2027 classes.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Responsibilities

• Assists with a variety of departmental engineering projects and prepares technical documents and reports.
• Supports water main replacement and steam-to-hot-water conversion planning.
• Uses SAP and standard office software to develop reports and updates for staff meetings.
• Follows safety policies and participates in required training and skills development.
• Maintains reliable attendance and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
