Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) seeks an Engineering Intern for the Project Engineering Department in Lansing, MI. This Summer internship offers hands-on experience across electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, and other disciplines with mentorship and exposure to real projects in electric, water, steam, and chilled water facilities.

Selected intern will work on independent or collaborative projects, learn from experienced engineers, and participate in safety training and site

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an electrical engineering program with junior or senior status during summer 2027.
• Must be enrolled in fall 2027 classes.

Responsibilities

• Design a small project or portion of a larger project under mentor guidance.
• Assist with electrical, mechanical, or civil/structural projects and activities.
• Aid in design, construction, commissioning, material procurement, and specifications.
• Investigate and specify materials for projects throughout the department.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Follow BWL Safety Manual and wear PPE for all field work.
• Attend required safety trainings and maintain attendance as required.
