Job summary

City of Baytown is seeking a dedicated Utility Maintenance Specialist to join our Public Works team. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain critical utility systems, including water distribution and sewer lines, ensuring reliable service to the community.

Responsibilities include repairing leaks, installing meters and lines, and maintaining equipment. The role requires drive-time, adherence to safety standards, and progression through TEEX course requirements for TCEQ licenses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Class A CDL with endorsements (air brakes, cargo, and combination) within six months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair water distribution systems to ensure unobstructed flow to treatment.
• Repair water leaks on mains, service lines, meters, valves, and hydrants; install/replace meters and lines.
• Inspect and service trucks, tractors, water pumps, and tools daily; operate dump/utility trucks to job sites.
