Job summary

City of Portsmouth, NH is seeking two Utility Mechanics to maintain and repair water distribution and wastewater systems. The role supports the Water/Sewer/Stormwater Division and requires high school graduate status, 3+ years in construction/maintenance, and a valid CDL Class B license.

Starting pay is $24.46–$26.97 per hour. Full-time schedule Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm, with benefits including retirement, PTO, medical/dental, and more.

Qualifications

• Graduated from high school or earned a GED.
• Working knowledge of trades with at least 3 years' construction or maintenance experience.
• Must possess valid CDL Class B license; no offenses restricting insurability.
• Encouraged to obtain Water Distribution Grade I and Sewer Collection Grade I licenses.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, repair and construct water distribution and wastewater systems and related facilities.
• Address street-related facilities and perform skilled/semi-skilled trades as required.
