Job summary

City of Cottage Grove is seeking a semi-skilled maintenance worker to support water treatment, water distribution, and sanitary sewer systems. The role includes responding to water quality inquiries, operating SCADA-related tasks, and coordinating with contractors and City departments.

A CDL and water/sewer certificates or the ability to obtain them within 6 months are required. The position is based in Cottage Grove, MN, with duties spanning facilities maintenance, hydrant flushing, and routine

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL or ability to obtain within six months.
• Class D water operator or S-D sewer certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Operations and maintenance experience in water treatment and distribution preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair water treatment facilities.
• Maintain and repair water distribution system components.
• Monitor data and record readings at filtration stations.
• Perform general maintenance of Utilities division properties.
• Inspections, locates, and water shutoffs as directed.
• Respond to customer service calls regarding water quality and usage.
• Coordinate with contractors and other City departments on projects.
• Assist in well system maintenance and record-keeping.
• Inspect and repair sanitary sewer lines and lift stations.
• Assist with snow removal and street lighting outages as needed.
