Job summary

The City of Boca Raton is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to support water and sewer systems. You will perform installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of lines and lift stations under general supervision.

You must have a high school diploma and a valid Florida driver’s license. Training in backhoe operation may be provided. Reading utility plans and following safety protocols are essential; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must meet Florida DEP education standards for Water Distribution Operators exam eligibility within 12 months.
Post-offer background checks and drug screening required.
Experience with water/sewer system maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

Install, inspect, repair, and maintain water and sewer lines and lift station equipment under general supervision.
Repair and replace hydrants, valves, manholes, and meters.
Televises sewer lines and reviews videos for issues.
Locate lines for contractors and utility companies; stock truck with parts.
May operate trucks and specialized equipment; perform confined space entry.
Document work activities and read meters and gauges.
May work overtime or be on call.
