Job summary

Grand Traverse County is seeking a Water Distribution Technician to operate, repair, and maintain water distribution systems, pump stations, and sewer collection systems. You will work as part of a team to meet objectives and ensure quality service for the community.

Starting hourly rate is $19.59 USD with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, retirement plans, and paid time off. Overtime may be required in emergencies or to complete tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus an approved technical training program.
• Six months experience in sewer and water system operation/maintenance preferred.
• Experience or education may substitute for experience with demonstrated ability.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground water/sewer lines and valves.
• Inspect and repair water meters and hydrants.
• Operate and maintain water services and associated equipment.
• Maintain records and assist customers with standard policies.
• Oversee contractors and monitor supplies for unit operations.
