Job summary

The Town of Charlton is seeking a Water/Sewer Superintendent to plan and oversee construction, maintenance, and operation of the town's water and wastewater systems. You will supervise contractor crews and ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and norms under direct supervision.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate's degree in civil engineering or related field with 5–7 years of public works water/sewer experience; valid driver's license; licenses in MA wastewater and drinking

Qualifications

• Associates degree with 5–7 years' experience in public works water/sewer utility systems maintenance or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Licenses in MA wastewater operator or drinking water distribution are favorable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, schedule, implement and oversee water/sewer construction, maintenance and operation activities to ensure quality service and proper wastewater discharge.
• Supervise contractor crews for installing water/sewer lines, hydrants and meters and maintaining systems.
• Oversee construction/maintenance to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and norms under direct supervision.

Job description

The Town of Charlton is looking for a Water/Sewer Superintendent to join our team. The Water/Sewer Superintendent will be responsible to plan, develop, recommend, schedule, implement, and oversee construction, maintenance, and operation and construction activities designed to provide quality water service for the town and proper discharge of wastewater; supervise contractor crews in installing new water/sewer lines, installing and relocating fire hydrants and meters, and maintaining the existing water/sewer supply and distribution systems; oversee construction and maintenance work to determine acceptability and conformity to all applicable laws, policies, procedures, practices and norms under direct control.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates degree in civil engineering or related field, additional technical training, and 5-7 years of responsible experience in public works water/sewer utility systems maintenance or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver's License
• Grade 5C or higher MA wastewater operator license and Grade 2 or higher drinking water distribution license are favorable but not required.

The position will remain open until filled. Hiring salary range: $88,691.20 - $97,905.60 with full salary range to $110,801.60 through step progression.
