Job summary

Buzz About EB is seeking an Apprentice Sewer Utility Technician II to maintain sewer pump stations, inspect equipment, and keep detailed records. You will work with force mains, gravity mains, and related infrastructure, and prepare job sites with warning devices and barricades.

Applicants should have at least 1 year of related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a NJ driver’s license with CDL endorsement or the ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance at sewer pump stations, including machinery, generators, force mains, gravity sewer mains, and other sewer infrastructure.
• Visually inspect equipment, ensure materials available, and return tools to designated locations.
• Add fuel, change lubricants, grease fittings, and hose/clean wet and dry wells.
• Inspect force mains and laterals from maps, sketches, and drawings.
• Prepare job sites by setting up warning devices and traffic barricades.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, time, incidents, conditions, and resources used.
• Assist in snow and ice control and operate vehicles with snowplows/spreaders.
• Assist in performing more complex maintenance tasks as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

• Performing regular maintenance at sewer pump stations, including the maintenance of machinery, generators, force mains, gravity sewer mains, and other sewer infrastructure.
• Visually inspecting equipment in accordance with established procedures, ensuring required materials are available, and returning tools and equipment to their designated locations.
• Adding fuel, changing lubricants, greasing fittings, and hosing and cleaning wet and dry wells.
• Inspecting force mains and laterals from maps, sketches, and drawings.
• Preparing job sites by setting up and placing warning devices and traffic barricades.
• Keeping accurate records of all work completed to include but not limited to work performed, time to complete, unusual incidents, dangerous conditions, and resources used.
• Assisting in snow and ice control. Must have the ability to operate vehicles equipped with snowplows and spreaders.
• Assisting in performing more complex maintenance tasks as assigned.

Must be available for a standby schedule.

Special Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of related experience.EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.LICENSING & CERTIFICATION: Must have a valid N.J. driver’s license and CDL license with proper endorsement or the ability to obtain within a one-year period. A N.J. state license for collection of wastewaters is a plus.
