Job summary

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is hiring for a position responsible for operating heavy equipment in installing, repairing, and maintaining the city’s water and wastewater system. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least six months of construction-related heavy equipment experience, and a valid NC Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid North Carolina Class A CDL driver's license.
• Six months of construction work experience including operating heavy equipment.
• NC Grade 1 Collections preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment and transports equipment.
• Maintains and mows rights of way, outfalls, and easements; may work in tight areas.
• Operates heavy equipment from crane and logging mats.
• Repairs water leaks on large diameter pipes; installs temporary bypass pumping equipment.
• Assists in heavy construction of water and sewer point repairs.
• Inspects sanitary sewer and water lines, manholes, and related components.
• Establishes safe work zones with traffic control devices; flags traffic as needed.
• Repairs landscaping; performs routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Completes daily logs, paperwork, and work orders.
