Job summary

Town of Manchester is hiring for a Water/Sewer Maintenance role. The position involves skilled work on water and sewer mains, hydrants, valves and meters, with heavy equipment operation and road maintenance responsibilities.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and CDL Class B with air brake endorsement (or obtainable within one year). Municipal benefits are provided and safety protocols must be followed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or vocational school; three years of related water/sewer maintenance experience.
• One year of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• CDL Class B with air brake endorsement or obtain within one year of employment.
• Water distribution system certificate (class 2 or 3) or sanitary sewer certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled work in construction, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer mains, appurtenances, facilities and equipment.
• Operate construction equipment and diagnose maintenance needs; plan site preparation and select tools and materials.
• Install and maintain water meters; inspect hydrants, valves, sewers and manholes; repair as needed.
• Clear debris from damaged lines; assist in laying pipes and road maintenance; operate pumps to manage water flow.
• Follow OSHA safety procedures; maintain field log books; supervise helpers when required.
