Job summary

The City of Everett is seeking a skilled Water/Wastewater Maintenance worker to support the DPW – Water division. The incumbent performs construction and maintenance on water distribution and wastewater collection systems under supervision.

Responsibilities include system maintenance, valve and hydrant work, meter reading, safety compliance, and on-call duties. Candidates need a High School diploma, MA license, CDL-B, and 5 years of field experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in water and wastewater maintenance and construction.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and basic principles of a water distribution and wastewater system.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, including trench work, shoring, and confined space entry.
• Knowledge of water and sewer pipe repair practices.
• Knowledge of valve, hydrant, and service repair and installation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to water distribution and wastewater systems (mains, services, hydrants, valves, meters).
• Maintain logs and documentation of maintenance work.
• Operate and repair valves, hydrants, services, mains and water meters.
• Operate equipment and vehicles and perform safety procedures.
• Share on-call duties and respond to after-hours emergencies.
• Dig Safe mark outs and site safety.
• Restore roads and sites to original condition after work.
