The primary responsibilities include creating a positive learning environment for swim instruction across all age groups. The role involves coaching with a focus on safety, skill development, seasonal planning, daily workouts, goal setting, and promoting both competitive swim and team goals.
This role involves constant interaction with internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining positive and professional relationships with JCC staff, professionals from related agencies, and the community.
Instructors must be able to demonstrate and perform all six basic swimming strokes, tread water, and float on front and back. Specific vision abilities are required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment is typically hot and humid. WSI's should be prepared to enter the water for maintenance tasks and should be able to return to their post for an extended period, even in wet clothing.
