Job summary

City of Chicago Department of Law seeks a Safety Specialist for the Water Management division to help implement safety regulations and inspect work sites for OSHA compliance. The role involves developing safety policies, coordinating training on protective gear, and ensuring safe conditions at field sites and construction zones.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in accident prevention or an applicable associate degree with related experience, plus a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in accident prevention and safety inspection work, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree or higher, plus one (1) year of work experience in accident prevention and safety inspection work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing departmental safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Inspect work areas and construction sites to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and city safety rules.
• Conduct safety training sessions for staff and coordinate with manufacturers for training on safety gear.
• Investigate accidents and prepare reports with corrective actions and prevention measures.
• Maintain records of injuries and property accidents and support safety meetings and committees.
