Overview

Water Resources Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager - Maple Grove or MN Woodbury, MN

AE2S (Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, LLC) is an award-winning civil/environmental consulting engineering firm. This role focuses on water resources analysis and design for municipal projects, supporting expanding Minnesota operations and collaborating with AE2S staff across geographies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis and planning related to floodplain and stormwater management facilities utilizing XP/SWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, and other water resource engineering software.
  • Provide professional services for water resources projects including planning, study, design, and construction administration.
  • Review stormwater management plans submitted to municipalities.
  • Lead specific tasks on large projects or manage smaller projects and supervise assigned project team members (e.g., Project Engineers, Engineers in Training, Engineering Technicians).
  • Maintain existing client relationships and pursue relationships with new clients.
  • Assist the Water Resources Practice Leader in identifying, evaluating, pursuing, and managing project opportunities.
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work.
  • Assist in maintaining project budgets and schedules and in maintaining quality client relationships and communication.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in internal and external meetings.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Minnesota or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS software.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota design standards and permitting.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with clients and leading or participating in watershed master planning/drainage basin design plans, floodplain studies, and water supply planning.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development.
  • Pre-employment onboarding requirements may include background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a water resource related field.
  • Demonstrated experience using SWMM software for urban stormwater management analysis and design.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of project financials.
Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate weights; may involve up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects.
  • May require wearing PPE such as flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends with overtime may be required.
  • May require travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays.
