Job summary

Fehr Graham seeks a Project Engineer with a strong water and wastewater background to lead municipal projects from design to execution. You will collaborate with clients, regulators, and designers to deliver compliant, efficient water infrastructure solutions.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil/ Environmental Engineering degree and a PE license (or can obtain within 12 months). East Peoria, IL office-based role offering growth and a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience, with emphasis in water, wastewater, or stormwater projects.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; knowledge of WaterCAD, SewerCAD, or similar tools is a plus.
• Strong understanding of regulatory permitting processes and local/state/federal requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects for municipal clients.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and reports for water treatment facilities, distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, lift stations, and stormwater systems.
• Perform hydraulic modeling, cost estimating, and permitting tasks related to water infrastructure.
• Work closely with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure project requirements and compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and designers.
• Support project management functions, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
• Conduct field investigations, inspections, and construction oversight as needed.
