City of Greensboro is hiring a Water Resources Plant Mechanic to maintain and repair essential equipment across our water treatment facilities. This role focuses on installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of pumps, motors, piping, chemical feed equipment, and related components to keep operations safe, compliant, and reliable for the community.

The position is non-exempt, with a 6:00 am–4:30 pm schedule options (Tue–Fri or Mon–Thu), competitive pay, and a $2,879 sign‑on bonus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4 years of related mechanical/electronic experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Certified Fork Lift Operator or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with small tools, welders, cutting torches.

Responsabilités

• Install, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, fans, piping, chemical feed equipment, compressors, valves, tanks, generators, and related components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and determine solutions.
• Provide lead support and guidance to Mechanics-in-Training and Laborers.
• Log all work performed and hours.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours and weekends.
