Job summary

City of Farmington is seeking a Water Resource Specialist to manage the 40-year water plan, oversee water rights, and develop conservation strategies. The role operates in the Water Administration division at the West Annex location.

The ideal candidate will have a civil or water resources engineering background, strong report writing and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with engineers and city staff to meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil or water resources engineering or related field with appropriate experience.
• Knowledge of water rights laws, regulations, and modeling techniques.
• Ability to develop and maintain technical reports and planning documents.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and annually reviewing the City's 40-Year Water Plan and conservation measures.
• Administer and maintain water rights portfolios while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate design and construction oversight of public works water projects with consultants.
• Prepare plans, designs, and specifications for water and wastewater projects as assigned.
• Communicate progress to Water/Wastewater Administrator and Public Works Director.
• Maintain public relations and respond to inquiries regarding water resource issues.
