Position Summary:

JMT is seeking a Water Resources intern to support with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments, active participation in project design & documentation, gain practical experience and support their educational development. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

This internship is being offered at our Tyler, TX or Longview, TX office.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assist senior or lead engineers with basic design tasks, including hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and modeling, plans production, estimates, and reports
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases
• Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings
• Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed
• Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices
• Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands hands
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members
• Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members

Qualifications Preferred

• Coursework in hydrology and/or hydraulics, fluid mechanics, transportation, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

• Familiarity with design and production software, with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
