Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a Water Resources Intern to join our civil engineering team.

You will support hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater management on land development projects, ranging from small drainage studies to large detention and floodplain analyses. As an intern, you will learn to apply FEMA floodplain regulations and local stormwater ordinances during design, assist Senior Engineers in drainage reports and floodplain studies, and

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with professional interaction abilities.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing hydrologic and hydraulic models for stormwater management design.
• Support detention/retention facility and storm drain system design for sites.
• Help prepare drainage reports, floodplain studies, and LOMR applications for regulatory submittals.
• Research FEMA floodplain maps and local stormwater ordinances relevant to projects.
• Use modeling software to analyze drainage conditions and coordinate with engineers and agencies.
