Job summary

Thomas & Hutton seeks a Water Resources Engineer to advance stormwater capital-improvement designs across the Southeast. You will leverage hydrology, hydraulics, and water-quality analyses to deliver open-channel and closed-conduit solutions, develop 2D models, and prepare regulatory documentation.

You will collaborate with engineers and project teams, coordinate with clients, and guide projects from concept to completion while applying Autodesk Civil 3D tools and related modeling software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Biosystems Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain (PE path strongly preferred).
  • 35 years of experience in water resources engineering, including hydrologic and hydraulic design and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of hydrologic/hydraulic principles, stormwater design, and water-quality analysis.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and water-resources modeling software.

Responsibilities

  • Design stormwater capital-improvement project plans, documents, quantities, and cost opinions.
  • Perform hydrologic, hydraulic, and water-quality analyses for open-channel and closed-conduit systems.
  • Design site-specific BMPs, including low-impact development and stormwater volume-control.
  • Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation.
  • Develop 2D hydrologic/hydraulic models, FEMA CLOMR/LOMR applications, exhibits, and drainage reports.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project delivery.
  • Manage project tasks to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
