Job summary

EMH&T is seeking a Water Resources Engineer (PE) to join the Columbus, OH team. The role emphasizes hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, FEMA floodplain studies, and stormwater system design to address flooding and resilience for communities.

The ideal candidate will have 4–8 years in water resources, a PE license, and strong report writing. You will mentor staff and collaborate with clients and agencies to deliver data-driven engineering solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 4–8 years of experience in water resources, stormwater, and floodplain management.
  • Experience with modeling software such as HydroCAD and HEC-RAS.
  • Master’s degree in water resources is preferred.
  • Strong technical report writing ability.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS for design and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, analysis, design, calculations, and delivery of water resources and stormwater projects.
  • Work independently and with a team of engineers.
  • Model hydrologic and hydraulic systems for watersheds, streams, and stormwater infrastructure.
  • Prepare flood risk assessments, drainage studies, and watershed master plans.
  • Support or lead proposals, including scope, staffing, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop FEMA floodplain mapping studies and related documents.
  • Design stormwater systems including detention, retention, and green infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with FEMA, USACE, EPA, and state agencies.
  • Conduct field assessments and document findings.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, QC, and client communications.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
