Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Denver, Colorado team. In this role you will support and lead a variety of water resources projects across mining, industrial, municipal, and infrastructure sectors, contributing to planning, analysis, design, and delivery of water management solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline and 4+ years of professional water resources engineering experience.
• Preferred: 10+ years of water resources experience with mining projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (HEC-HMS, GoldSim, PCSWMM, Civil3D).
• Experience with mine permitting, closure planning, and environmental compliance.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing client relationships.
• Experience on large-scale mining/industrial/infrastructure projects in North America.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for mining, infrastructure, and water resources projects.
• Develop site water balance models, stormwater management plans, and surface water diversion designs.
• Support mine water management projects including dewatering and tailings water management.
• Conduct flood assessments, drainage studies, and watershed evaluations.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and design documents.
• Collaborate with geotechnical, civil, environmental, and mining engineers on integrated solutions.
• Support environmental permitting efforts related to water resources and mining.
• Participate in client meetings, project planning, and business development.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
• Support construction-phase services including design reviews and site inspections.
