AtkinsRéalis USA Inc. in Orlando, FL, is seeking an entry-level Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources Team.

The role focuses on developing hydrologic and hydraulic models for stormwater, regulatory studies, and design projects while supporting proposals and client communications. You should have 0–2 years of related experience, a ABET-accredited BS/MS in Civil Engineering (water resources preferred), and skills in CAD, ArcGIS, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of related technical experience.
• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited college/university, preferably with a focus in water resources.
• Proficient interpersonal and written communication skills.
• CAD drafting ability with proficiency in relevant software.
• Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
• Experience with ArcGIS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develops hydrologic and hydraulic models for stormwater and related projects.
• Researches feasibility of design approaches and regulatory requirements.
• Perform CAD drafting tasks.
• Analyze data with ArcGIS.
• Assist in client proposals and presentations.
• Assist in drainage design including storm drains, ponds, culverts and bridge hydraulics.
• Prepare cost estimates and technical reports.
• Support quality control and review of designs and drawings.
• Coordinate with other engineers and staff where needed.
• Perform other duties as required by supervision.

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Orlando, FL.

Your Role

• Develops hydrologic and hydraulic models, which will be used for the planning and design of stormwater management facilities, technical drainage studies, FEMA letters and reports, transportation drainage projects, or other projects.
• Conducts research on the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Performs various routine drafting and CAD assignments.
• Performs data analysis and/or data processing using ArcGIS.
• Assists in the preparation and development of client proposals and presentations.
• Assists in drainage design which includes storm drain systems, pond design, culvert analysis and bridge hydraulic analysis.
• Prepare cost estimates and technical reports and memorandums.
• Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
• May coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.
• May perform other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary from time to time.

About You

• EXPERIENCE: 0-2 years experience in a related technical field
• EDUCATION: Completion of B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university, preferably with a focus in water resources.

Special Skills

• Proficient interpersonal and communication skills
• Capability to develop technical writings and reports
• Drafting / CAD ability is desired
• Math skills to perform calculations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Excel
• Experience and familiarity with the following programs are a plus: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ICPR, Stormwise, EPA-SWMM, GIS, AutoCAD and MicroStation.

Professional Registrations

• Registered EI or EIT (preferred)

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $75,000 - $85,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
